. . Javon Kinlaw, defensive tackle. 3. player. 42.

The Jacksonville Jaguars could’ve reinforced their front four.

C.J. Henderson has definitely been solid, he hasn’t turned into a shutdown corner but he’s not a liability the way other rookie corners have been. The Florida standout has performed better than Jeff Okudah, whom the Detriot Lions chose with this year’s third overall pick. Also, Henderson has allowed 1.33 yards per coverage snap while A.J. Terrell, the Atlanta Falcons’ first-round pick, has given up 1.62.

There’s no doubt Henderson has been good and the Jaguars needed a cornerback after trading Jalen Ramsey in 2019. Nevertheless, there were plenty of players on the board at the time the team was going to make their selection with the ninth overall pick.

If there is a player the Jaguars could’ve chosen instead of Henderson, it was Javon Kinlaw, whom the San Francisco 49ers choose five picks laters at number 14. They could’ve plugged in their defensive line and have him play opposite of DaVon Hamilton, who is getting praise from his coaches and teammates alike.

So far, Kinlaw has partaken in eight games this season and has started six of them. He has played at least 66 percent of the 49ers’ snaps on defense in five games and has registered 16 total tackles, three quarterback hits and three pass deflections. Just like Henderson, the South Carolina product is still developing so he could end up becoming one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the league in a not so distant future.
