The Secondary

The Jacksonville Jaguars secondary got younger in a hurry this off-season. But again that’s what happens when you trade A.J. Bouye to Denver and you were still dealing with the loss of Jalen Ramsey from last year.

Having Tre Herndon and Jarrod Wilson on the roster from last year helps. Knowing that Ronnie Harrison is hoping to take the next step in becoming a Pro Bowl safety eases some of that pain. But the reality is the secondary still has questions that need answers.

How does C.J. Henderson fit in as a starter immediately, and can he replace the experience and dynamic play Ramsey displayed game in and game out? Can Herndon pick up where you left off last year and will he be as effective?

Wilson needs to play better this year. He could be challenged in training camp. This is one area where there could be major changes without all of the starters being replaced.

Of all of the issues with depth the team had last season and tried to fill in free agency and the draft, this is the one that concerns me. You don’t know what you’re going to get from the many rookies the team drafted or how the veterans will mesh with players who were on the roster last year.
