Patrick Queen – LSU

Another linebacker who played in the championship game, Patrick Queen came out victorious in this battle. While other players on LSU may have received more recognition, Queen was one of the key pieces of that championship LSU team.

He has tremendous upside, he is another player who fits the Jaguars linebacker mold perfectly. He is fast, physical, and just as good at covering running backs and tight ends as he is stuffing the run and blitzing through gaps.

One worry about Queen is his lack of starting experience, he only started for LSU one season. There is a lot of potential but there is just as much to prove. He is also very undersized for a linebacker. Barely 6-feet tall and just under 230 lbs, Queen has to fight more so than bigger linebackers and at times could be swallowed up by NFL offensive lineman.

If it weren’t for his size, Queen would be an easy top 15-20 player in the draft, however, NFL teams are going to be wary of his smaller frame. This hasn’t stopped the Jacksonville Jaguars before. Often they pick linebackers who some scouts predict make better strong safeties.

One thing is for sure about Queen, however, he plays much bigger than he looks He would be another player, like Murray who could be picked at No. 20 depending on who is available and would be a great steal if he were to fall into the second round.

Prospect Grade: B

NFL Comparison: Deion Jones

Strengths: Speed, Tenacity, Athleticism

Weakness: Size, Experience
