Cam Akers Gets The Call

I remember this conversation like it was yesterday. A member of the FSU athletic association, and ESPN writer and I debated whether Leonard Fournette or Dalvin Cook would be a better selection for the Jaguars in 2017. We all know how that worked out.

At some point, the Jacksonville Jaguars will need to decide what to do with Fournette. It doesn’t look like they’re going to pick up his fifth-year option so they must prepare for the future. Cam Akers might be the best replacement for him.

There are plenty of similarities between Akers and Cook. Cook is already a game-changing running back in the NFL. His FSU counterpart has the chance to do the same thing. I would not be surprised if he was drafted late in the second round by the Jacksonville Jaguars if he is still on the board.

That would mean the team would have to trade it back into the round to grab him. Making the selection all the guarantees that Fournette is playing his last season in Jacksonville.
