Sign Arik Armstead to a long-term deal

This is a deal that is worked out after it is announced the team moves on from Yannick Ngakoue. The Jaguars do not use the franchise tag on one of their greatest pass rushers of all time, which opens the door for them to bring in another pass rusher to play opposite Josh Allen.

The move to sign Arik Armstead from the 49ers is also a familiar one for Jacksonville’s director of player personnel, Trent Baalke, who drafted Armstead when he was the general manager in San Francisco. He had 10 sacks last season for the 49ers. While he is a free agent, he does not cost the Jaguars the $22M Ngakoue wanted per season.

Last year was Armstead’s first with double-digit sacks, which could be the first of many. At 26 years old, he is still approaching his prime as a player and could make a solid sack duo with Allen, who had 10.5 last season for Jacksonville.
