What Happens with the Front Office?

The biggest decision team owner Shad Khan must make is what to do with both general manager David Caldwell and Marrone. And from that, there are plenty of layers of the onion to peel back.

After false reports surfaced that Khan had told Marrone his last game would be Sunday, the focus now is on when the decision will be made. Will Marrone stay or go? If there is any belief in Marrone keeping his job, maybe it was backed up by Khan giving his head coach a big high five after the team’s 38-20 win on Sunday evening.

In any event, even if there is no change to the head coaching position, there should be changes in the coaching staff, where the defensive coordinator and assistants could be looking for work elsewhere.

With Caldwell, it may be time to change direction, but for some reason, I see him staying along with Marrone. The Jaguars go into the offseason with plenty of questions about the roster and the salary cap. It might be a case of Khan giving both men one more year, sans Tom Coughlin, to prove they can run this team effectively.

Stay tuned.
