What can Jaguars fans expect when their home team takes the field today to face their AFC South rivals, the Indianapolis Colts?

When looking back on the season the Jacksonville Jaguars had, there were some things to get excited about.

Leonard Fournette played all 16 games and became a more complete running back. Wide receiver DJ Chark emerged as a true No. 1 pass catcher with skills the team has lacked since Allen Robinson was catching passes in Jacksonville. Josh Allen and Yannick Ngakoue formed a solid pass rush and are two of the best young defensive ends in the game. Calais Campbell once again made the Pro Bowl. There is no explanation needed for that.

The team has two competent quarterbacks which should make for an interesting offseason and battle in OTAs and training camp. And, it also has two of the best special teams players in the game in Josh Lambo and Logan Cooke. Things didn’t go as planned this season, but there is some sunshine at the end of the tunnel.

Fans still don’t know if there will be a new head coach next season or will team owner Shad Khan keep the old regime and head coach Doug Marrone, with general manager David Caldwell as well. For now, this is a team that needs to win, if for nothing else but to have something positive to talk about heading out of 2019 and into 2020.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

For the last time this season, the staff at Black and Teal predict today’s game in Jacksonville against the Indianapolis Colts. Our AFC South rival has everything to play for while the home team is hoping to play spoiler in a meaningless game. He’s how we believe the contest will play out.

Lorenzino Estrada – Jacksonville’s last game of the 2019 season concludes yet another disappointing venture. Both the Jaguars and Colts are out of playoff contention, so it will be an evenly matched game.

Quarterback Gardner Minshew and the offense will show up in their final game to show some hope for the future of the team. Jaguars win 27-21

Kathy Clark – Another week and another potential win for the Jaguars. The Colts have had a tough season with the retirement of Andrew Luck. I would love to win this last game but… Colts 24 Jaguars13

Jesse Overby – The Jaguars are hosting the Colts in the season finale, with Jacksonville out of the playoffs and Indianapolis having the slimmest of hopes at a playoff spot. The Colts have played better and more consistent than the Jaguars all year.

I don’t see anything in the Jaguars that tells me they’re motivated to win this game. I’ve got the Colts winning this one 27-16.

Anthony Robertson – The Colts and the Jaguars both have been eliminated from playoff contention, but there is a lot on the line for the Jaguars. The decision on firing Doug Marrone, if that hasn’t been decided yet, could be decided this week.

Gardner Minshew will be making his final case on if he should be the starting QB next season.  The Colts are a tough matchup, they do have good talent across the board and the Jaguars have played like one of the worst teams in the league recently. The only hope is if the offense gets hot and stays hot. Indianapolis 28 Jacksonville 14

David Levin – The end of 2019 and this wasn’t what I hoped it would be. The team started the season with so much promised and even at 4-4 looked like a team on the rise. Three straight division losses hurt them deeply, something they could not recover from. And now, here we are.

I expect the team to play better this week, but I am convinced they will need to score at least 24 points to win. Indianapolis is hoping to sneak in the playoffs, but even a win for them does not guarantee it to happen. Still, I’m picking the road team. Sorry, guys. Colts 26 Jaguars 20
