Donald Payne – Linebacker

The final Jaguars player to watch is middle linebacker, Donald Payne. Payne was one of the many Jaguars players who was given more playing time than expected due to injury. Payne has done an exceptional job filling in for Myles Jack, and some even say he has outplayed the former second-round pick.

I don’t expect Payne to steal Jack’s job next season but perhaps a new coach would opt for a 3-4 defense or maybe move Jack back to the weak side linebacker spot where he thrived and keep Payne in the middle of the defense.

Payne has been a leader for this defense as soon as he was given the starting role. I don’t expect that to change this week. I think he has earned a spot on this team going into next season. I also believe he will lead the team in tackles once again this week.

Next. The Jaguars must part ways with GM David Caldwell. dark
