Linebacker – Looking at the roster right now, the three linebackers who started Week 15 of the NFL season in 2017 are not on the active roster.

Paul Posluszny retired after 2017. Telvin Smith did not come to camp and then retired before this season. Myles Jack injured his knee and was placed on I.R. last week. The Jaguars have to do a better job of finding replacements for Posluszny and Smith. Quincy Williams is a work in progress. So is Leon Jacobs. Najee Goode played well but is now on I.R. as is Jake Ryan, who could not stay healthy.

The Jaguars could use one of their first-round picks on a linebacker or look to Round 2 and grab one early. I like Isaiah Simmons of Clemson, but he may be done by the time Jacksonville uses its second pick. Dylan Moses of Alabama is a solid pickup in the middle or late part of the first round. Crimson Tide linebackers do well in the NFL.

I also think the Jaguars can find someone in the third round to develop, hoping they can become a Smith-type of player. The only problem is no one knows what kind of scheme this team will use in 2020.
