Jarrod Wilson – Free Safety

The Jaguars took a big risk when opting to go with Jarrod Wilson as their starter this season instead of signing a safety in free agency or drafting one early in the draft. So far Wilson hasn’t really made any game-changing plays, which is something teams look for out of their safety. Another responsibility of the safety position is limiting other teams big plays which Jacksonville has struggled with a bit this season.

If Wilson wants to remain the starter going into next season he has to prove himself for the remainder of this season and that starts this week.

When looking at the matchup against the Bengals Wilson is going to play a key role defensively. The Bengals have an emerging talent in wide receiver Auden Tate who is making the most of his opportunities after a shoulder injury that landed John Ross on IR. AJ Green is not going to return this week as well so big plays may be what Cincinnati looks for to try and come away with a victory.

Wilson is just going to have to limit those big-play opportunities. Look for Wilson to have at least two pass breakups and possibly a forced turnover this week.
