Jaguars Jalen Ramsey: “I want to play for one team my whole career”
By David Levin
Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey cleared the air on Thursday when he was interviewed by the media, saying he wants to remain with one team his entire career.
Jalen Ramsey, the outspoken cornerback of the Jacksonville Jaguars, told the media on Thursday he wants to, “play for one team my whole career.”
Since he was the team’s first-round draft pick in 2016 out of Florida State, one can decipher it is a Jaguars helmet he wants to wear until he hangs up his cleats. The third-year cornerback also cleared up a misunderstanding of sorts when a message he posted on his Twitter account inferred may have wanted to leave the organization.
The message came a day after the Jaguars lost their fifth consecutive game, a 29-26 loss to the Indianapolis Colts following their bye week.
"“I’ve said multiple times, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again that I want to play for one team my whole career,” Ramsey said via ESPN.com and other sources."
Pittsburgh comes to town on Sunday boasting a five-game win streak and the lead in the AFC North. These two teams faced each other twice last year where the Jaguars beat the Steelers 30-9 in the regular season and then 45-42 in the AFC Divisional matchup. Both games were played at Heinz Field.

Beating the Steelers on Sunday would not only put an end to Jacksonville’s woes, but it would also keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
Given that Ramsey still has another year on his rookie contract and then a potential fifth-year option that Jaguars can pick up, there is no reason to believe the All-Pro defensive back is leaving any time soon. The team could also use the franchise tag on him following 2021 if a long-term deal is not worked out.
"“I could be here for a while,” he said."
Ramsey and the secondary need to play better than they have the past five weeks as Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is fourth in the NFL in passing yards with 2,888 and tied for fourth in the league with 21 touchdowns.
"Roethlisberger said he does not “fear” Ramsey when he was interviewed by the Pittsburgh press, but did say he respects the former FSU star for his ability on the field. It was back in August during an ESPN.com interview that Ramsey said the Pittsburgh signal caller was “decent at best.”"
Jacksonville’s defense has been criticized often this year for a drop in production and for what appears to be busted plays. The team has surrendered 143 points in their last five contests.
"Per Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com, “Ramsey declined an interview request with ESPN on Monday but addressed his comments on Thursday by saying they were meant for ‘fake fans’ that haven’t stuck with the team, which arguably has been the biggest disappointment in the NFL in 2018.”"
