Once again, Chris Simms fires off some hot takes against quarterback Blake Bortles.

If you will recall, back in January forgettable former NFL QB Chris Simms blasted Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles with some truly awful takes while on the ‘Dan Le Batard Show’.

Included in Simms’ rant was calling Bortles the 70th best quarterback in league, behind guys like Nathan Peterman, T.J. Yates, and yes, even Bortles’ own backup Chad Henne. It was enough trash that Jaguars great Tony Boselli called into the show to share how dumb Simms’ takes were.

Well this week, Simms was at it again on his own podcast co-hosted with Adam Lefkoe called ‘The Simms and Lefkoe Podcast’:

It is unclear from the video clip exactly what the conversation was hitting on before the rant, but clearly the Jaguars were the topic at hand. It’s okay to state the team needs to explore other possibilities at the position, and to think there could be better options. Frankly that’s obvious. But Simms uses the time to unload on the current Jacksonville quarterback again.

"“…It’s going to ruin their locker room. I’m telling you, it’s going to.”"

No. Just no. The thought that the locker room would be destroyed from Bortles returning for another season is a major stretch. Teammates, specifically on the defense, backed up their quarterback multiple times last season, and shut down anyone trying to trash him. Bortles has the support of the other guys in the locker room.

"“…and he’s the worst at his position in the sport.”"

Okay, c’mon Chris. No one is going to argue that Bortles is a top ten quarterback in the league, but the WORST at his position? That is such a ridiculously ignorant stance. They’re not particularly flashy numbers, but over 3,600 yards, 21 touchdowns to 13 interceptions, 12 wins and a trip to the AFC Championship is not the stat-line of the “worst” quarterback in the NFL.

It’s fine to dispute whether Blake Bortles is the right man for the Jacksonville Jaguars. But Chris Simms continues to drop some terrible and misinformed takes about the QB.
