Marcedes Lewis will score a touchdown: FACT

The real MVP of last week’s win against the Pittsburgh Steelers was offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. Yes, Blake Bortles played extremely well and Leonard Fournette looked as tough and explosive as ever, but Hackett essentially called a perfect game.

Hackett flipped the playbook from wild-card weekend and he did so because he know the Jaguars couldn’t win a 10-3 game against the Steelers. He opened it up and let Blake pass it early and often, and he mixed in some deep shots down the field at the exact right times.

His magnum opus was the mind-blowing touchdown play to Tommy Bohanon in the 4th quarter, a play that was only successful because Hackett spent the entire game (and maybe the whole season) setting it up.

In his most successful games, Hackett has shown an affinity for spreading the ball around to multiple receivers in creative ways. One guy who I think is due for a big game is tight end Marcedes Lewis.

Part of it is nostalgia, but I can’t help but feel that this is when Marcedes etches his place in Jaguars history. He had a monster game early in the season against the Baltimore Ravens and I think it’s time he gets into the mix in the passing game again.

Expect a play or two to get Marcedes isolated in the redzone.
