Blake Bortles will throw an interception: FICTION

Blake Bortles led the NFL in interceptions in 2015, so forgive everyone who thought “here we go again” after the early interception in week 1. It turns out that pick was a bit of a fluke, as Bortles settled down and took care of the football for the rest of the game. Bortles overall had a terrific performance in week 1 and the most promising component was his increased ball security combined with his unwavering willingness to push the ball down the field. He didn’t give Allen Robinson as many deep 50/50 balls as usual but he still had a handful of big plays.

The Chargers don’t have much in terms of a pass rush and they won’t even have number 3 overall pick Joey Bosa at their disposal. The offensive line appears to be improved and should keep Bortles clean through most of the contest. Bortles has another solid performance and doesn’t make any crippling mistakes this week.

I didn’t think the Jaguars were going to win last week, but they showed and played better than I expected. I believe they actually played better overall than the Packers but were just bested by one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the league. This week they face another good quarterback, but I think the Jaguars are more prepared and angry after letting one slip through their fingers.

The Jaguars build of a sizeable lead early and keep the Chargers at bay this week for a road win.
