3) Joe Banyard, running back

I really liked Joe Banyard during last year’s preseason when he was with the Minnesota Vikings. He came on strong toward the end but found himself as the odd man out in a crowded position with that team.

If he doesn’t do better than he did against the New York Jets, he may find himself forced out in a similar manner with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While Chris Ivory, T.J. Yeldon, Denard Robinson, and Corey Grant were impressive at running back, Banyard’s four yards on two carries just aren’t good enough. I think he can do better and expect him to show that he’s worth at least another look going forward, but he can’t repeat his performance from Preseason Week 1.

The Jags will have plenty of talent at running back and it isn’t clear that they’ll need someone like Banyard (or Jonas Gray, for that matter) at the position in order to be competitive. Need to see something more.
