After spending part of the season on the sideline as a rookie, Rashad Green is primed for a breakout season in 2016.

The Jacksonville Jaguars currently have an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions on offense. Allen Robinson is quickly becoming one of the best receivers in the NFL; Allen Hurns earned a big contract extension after proving himself to be a terrific number 2 wideout; Julius Thomas struggled in his first season with the Jaguars but he’s still an elite talent; and Marqise Lee might be the deep threat the team needs if he can stay healthy.

With all those names it’s easy to forget about Rashad Greene.

The fifth round pick out of FSU missed some time as a rookie due to an injury, but he was a force as a punt returner when he finally made it back. If he can get involved in the passing game more, Greene could have a huge impact in 2016.

Football Outsiders is a fan of Greene, so much so that they listed him as their number 20 “breakout” prospect heading into 2016.

"20. Rashad Greene, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars168 offensive snaps, fifth-round pick (2015), age 23Greene was Jameis Winston‘s security blanket at Florida State, catching balls in tight coverage and getting vertical with ease against college corners. At 5-foot-11, 182 pounds, it’s hard to project Greene as an outside receiver. But he definitely has a chance as a shifty slot receiver. The Jaguars haven’t seen much from Marqise Lee yet, and Blake Bortles could use another reliable target over the middle. Greene will have to improve on last season’s 53 percent catch rate to be that target."

Greene didn’t have too many snaps last year, but I expect him to be in constantly in 3- and 4-receiver sets. He is an ideal slot receiver and has some potential in the screen game with his ability to run after the catch. It’s going to be hard for him to steal snaps from the top 2 guys, but it would be surprising if he wasn’t right there as the third option with Thomas.
