Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Atlanta Falcons: Keep Your Enemies Close – 5 Questions with Blogging Dirty

November 8, 2015; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Atlanta Falcons defensive end Vic Beasley (44) runs during the second quarter against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi
4. I was a big fan of Vic Beasley coming out of Clemson. How has the rookie played in 2015?
"It’s been an up and down year for Beasley. He started the season well but went quiet for a while. Often he’s been able to pressure the quarterback without quite being able to finish the job and get the sack. His play has improved in recent weeks, and he registered his first sack since Week 3 in last week’s loss to Carolina. Beasley has a ton of potential for the future, but he’s been a little underwhelming at times this season. That can be expected from a rookie, of course."
My take:
I wanted the Jaguars to take Beasley with the 3rd pick of the draft this year, but, while Dante Fowler Jr. has yet to play thanks to an injury, I’m glad the Jaguars opted for the Florida defensive end over Beasley. The Clemson product had good college production and great explosive numbers at the combine and seemed like a good fit at LEO, but he’s been overwhelmed and overpowered often this year. Freddie mentioned that Beasley was shut out in the sack department for over 10 weeks before getting a sack last week – that’s not the kind of production you want from your top 10 pick.
