PREDICTION: Jaguars finish 5-11
The Jacksonville Jaguars can make the case they have the most talent in the AFC South, especially if Andrew Luck continues to struggle in the manner he has so far in 2015. That’s why it was so frustrating to watch the Jaguars essentially throw away 2, if not 3, winnable games this year. Is it a coaching problem? I think that’s part of it, and I’m not sure that’s going to get fixed during the season. I think Bortles will continue to grow and excel with the weapons around him as the season goes on, but the Jacksonville defense is a trainwreck and about as effective as a wet napkin against good quarterbacks. There’s a reason all my predictions focused on the young offensive players and not on the defense – the offense houses the most encouraging part of the roster right now.
I can see the Jaguars sneaking out 3, maybe 4 wins down the stretch, but they are going to need to make some wholesale philosophical changes on defense if they want to make a legitimate run at the division title.
