The 2015 NFL Draft has come and gone and teams have re-stocked their rosters with fresh young talent. While we’re still a ways away from the beginning of the 2015 NFL season, the 2015 NFL Draft helped to get all of us back in the mood for football after being teased with free agency earlier.

Just like we’ve been doing throughout the 2015 NFL Draft period, we’ll be looking at the teams around the AFC South to see how they did from our semi-biased (read: completely biased) perspective as Jacksonville Jaguars fans. We already graded the first round selections for every team around the AFC South and we’ll highlight those as well as we go through the Jaguars’ rivals. We’ll take the teams by alphabetical order.

Houston Texans

I loved wha the Houston Texans did in the first round of the NFL Draft, picking up Kevin Johnson from Wake Forest. I gave that pick an A-.

Here are all of Houston’s picks, listed by round:

1) Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest

2) Benardrick McKinney, ILB, Mississippi State

3) Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State

5) Keith Mumphery, WR, Michigan State

6) Reshard Cliett, OLB, South Florida

6) Christian Covington, DT, Rice

7) Kenny Hilliard, RB, LSU

I think that the Houston Texans knocked it out of the park in the first and third rounds of the NFL Draft. Johnson and Jaelen Strong were excellent selections. I also like Humphrey as a receiving option in the fifth and Covington in the sixth round. Overall, though, the Texans didn’t seem to get a lot better as a team in the 2015 NFL Draft. Strong and Johnson will be a big deal in their rookie years, but the rest of the class seem to be adding depth and/or filling holes created after the 2014 season.

2nd in 2014. AFC South. HOUSTON TEXANS. B-.
