Plus Guys

Johnathan Cyprien: +2.5 Overall, +1.3 Run Defense, +1.1 Pass Coverage

Telvin Smith: +1.8 Overall, +2.5 Run Defense, -0.7 Pass Coverage

Chris Clemons: +1.1 Overall, -1.4 Run Defense, +2.3 Pass Rush

Safety Johnathan Cyprien had arguably the best game of his career on Thursday night, showing up in both the running game and in pass coverage. He was credited with 2 stops in the running game, and he had a big pass defense on Delanie Walker on the only ball he saw thrown his direction. He’s building some good momentum heading into the offseason, and hopefully it’ll continue in their final game.

Telvin Smith continues to impress and he’s going to be a cornerstone on this defense for years to come. His blazing speed was on display, as he was credited with a whopping 8 stops. Chris Clemons has also stepped up his game, as his 4 QB hurries and 1 QB hit were a big part of the Jaguars shutting down the Titans’ offense in the second half.

Minus Guys

J.T. Thomas: -3.3 Overall, -0.5 Run Defense, -2.7 Pass Coverage

Ziggy Hood: -2.4 Overall, -2.5 Run Defense

Abry Jones: -2.3 Overall, -2.2 Run Defense

J.T. thomas had a rough time in coverage on Thursday, and he was a big reason for Charlie Whitehurst’s career night. Thomas allowed 6 of the 8 balls thrown his direction to be caught for 60 yards, including the opening drive touchdown to Leon Washington. He’s been good in spurts this season, but probably not good enough to deter the coaches from starting him over a healthy Paul Posluszny.

Ziggy Hood only played 24 snaps, but he didn’t do much and he did not help contain a pretty underwhelming Tennessee rushing attack. The same goes for Abry Jones, who was the primary guy replacing Roy Miller.
