Plus Guys
Geno Hayes: +3.3 Overall, +1.3 Run Defense, +1.9 Pass Rush
Sen’Derrick Marks: +3.0 Overall, +1.2 Run Defense, +1.6 Pass Rush
Abry Jones: +2.6 Overall, +3.0 Run Defense, -0.5 Pass Rush
The Jaguars had a ton of defensive players with positive grades this week, which is not the least bit shocking considering how dominant they were in the second half. The Jaguars were all over Eli Manning, and that includes Geno Hayes, who was only credited with one sack, but he had the highest pass rush grade of any player. Sen’Derrick Marks continues to play at a Pro Bowl level, and his 2 sacks don’t completely account for the total havoc he wreaked in the Giants backfield. He also had a monstrous hit on Andre Williams for a big loss in the backfield (see below). Similarly, Abry Jones was a terror on the inside as a run defender, as he was credited with 4 stops at or behind the line of scrimmage.

Minus Guys
Dwayne Gratz: -2.8 Overall, -3.1 Pass Coverage
Johnathan Cyprien: -1.4 Overall, -0.1 Run Defense, -1.4 Pass Coverage
Josh Evans: -1.0 Overall, -0.1 Run Defense, -1.0 Pass Coverage
The Jaguars were pretty leaky defensively early on in the game, especially in the passing game. That’s reflected here, as almost all of the negative grades on defense were driven by the pass coverage grade. Gratz was credited with giving up 6 receptions, 2 of which went to Odell Beckham Jr. for 36 yards. He was picked on all day, as Manning essentially ignored Demetrius McCray on the other side of the field. Josh Evans was credited with giving up two long plays to Beckham and tight end Larry Donnell, but he was much better in the second half. Overall, the secondary held it together in the second half and more than made up for some of the plays they gave up early on.
