Shahid Khan Stands With Roger Goodell On Ray Rice
By Luke Sims
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has been on the hot seat over the Ray Rice fiasco and many are calling for his removal. Some owners have spoken in support of Goodell and Jacksonville Jaguars’ owner Shahid Khan is one of them. Shad Khan took over the Jaguars just two years ago and had some powerful words to say.

"It was an unspeakable and cowardly act by the player. The punishment he received from his team the league will never be enough to compensate for the action or erase it from our memory. The emotions we’ve all experienced from this are high and lasting, and the scrutiny and criticism at times has been understandable. But, I have always had great faith in Commissioner Goodell. I applaud his decision to have this matter investigated by an independent party, and I know the process will be seen through objectively and with great integrity. as a league, we want and will accept nothing less, and I am sure Commissioner Goodell feels the same. Until we learn from the investigation, it’s important now that we measure our thoughts and train our energy on doing whatever it takes – sending whatever message necessary – to eliminate domestic violence. We have the opportunity and obligation to lead by example."
Khan’s statement is incredibly well put together and I cannot thank him enough personally for sounding out against domestic violence as a whole. This is an issue that is not tied only to football and it is important for NFL owners to stand strong against it and display understanding for those who do suffer from domestic violence.
Removing Goodell is another matter and the independent investigation will shed light on whatever happened. I am proud of Khan’s current stance and trust his judgment in standing with Goodell.
