Round 5, Pick 10 – Dri Archer, RB Kent State
Oct 27, 2012; Piscataway, NJ, USA; Kent State Golden Flashes running back Dri Archer (26) is brought down by Rutgers Scarlet Knights linebacker Nick DePaola (43) during the second half at High Point Solutions Stadium. Kent State won 35-23. Mandatory Credit: Jim O
With Toby Gerhart on the roster and Bishop Sankey being picked earlier, this seems like a luxury pick. The fact of the matter is the Jaguars need playmakers period, and Dri Archer has the speed the Jaguars have lacked since Maurice Jones-Drew’s rookie year. He can contribute as a punt/kick returner and as a receiver out of the backfield. Jedd Fisch will find a way to use him effectively.
