As one draft comes to an end and another one looms in the distant future, ESPN analyst and head draftnik Mel Kiper Jr. has handed out his immediate reaction grades to the different draft classes for each team.  It’ll take some time for the teams to actually live up to these grades but all teams get grades because here in America we love to have them.

Mel Kiper hands the Jacksonville Jaguars a B+ in their draft.

Because the last few drafts have been terrible, this is quite a step up for the Jaguars.  The grade is based on how well the team addressed need, maneuvered the draft, and how much talent they added to the roster.  A B+ is about what I would expect an external grade to be and I’m pleased with it.

Kiper Jr. was particularly fond of the Jaguars adding “one of the best safeties in football” from last season and of adding the physical Gratz. With three guaranteed starters in the first three rounds, the Jaguars did a good job of addressing need and adding talent in the later rounds.
