Jaguars Assistant Coach Roundup, Week of Jan. 27
By Luke Sims
The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to fill out their coaching staff as head coach Gus Bradley settles into his new role in Jacksonville. Here’s who was hired over the past week.
Matt Smiley; Assistant Special Teams Coach
- The Jags have brought in Charleston Southern University’s Smiley to help new ST Coordinator Mike Mallory. Smiley was the special teams coach for the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in 2012 and served in the same position for Eastern Illinois for two years before that. He also has experience as both an offensive and defensive coordinator for Eureka College.
Tom Myslinski, Cedric Scott, Josh Hingst; Strength and Conditioning
- The Jags have retained Myslinski, Scott, and Hingst as their strength and conditioning coaches. They served in the same capacity for the Jaguars in 2012. They have been retained despite a very injury-ridden season.
Todd Wash; Defensive Line
- Wash was the defensive line coach under Bradley for the Seattle Seahawks. He has accepted the lateral move to the Jaguars – meaning that the move had to be approved by Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. Wash has previously coached the defensive line for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before Seattle.
That’s all thus far. Things are really starting to fill out as Bradley and GM Dave Caldwell turn toward roster evaluation.
