The Jacksonville Jaguars will welcome the Cleveland Browns at EverBank Stadium in Week 1 of the regular season. Even though they should have no trouble getting their first win of the year, the weather could complicate things a bit.
The latest weather report reveals that Jacksonville could deal with rain against the Brown in the season opener, but that's probably not the worst news.
The Jaguars could deal with a weather deal vs. the Browns in Week 1
NFLWeather projects a 46 percent chance of rain for the Jaguars game in Week 1, meaning there's a real chance of precipitation. The humidity level will be 59 percent, while the temperature will range from 91 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the game. The most notable thing on the report, though, is that there could be a weather delay.
This will be due to the fact that there could be a thunderstorm during the game. If there's one, the game would have to be postponed until it's safe for players to return. This alert is noteworthy precisely because Jacksonville dealt with a delay against the Carolina Panthers in the 2025 season opener.
With that in mind, the game could also take place without any delays, but it will be something worth keeping an eye on.

Potential delays notwithsanding, the Jaguars could face less-than-ideal weather
For the sake of argument, let's say there won't be any thunderstorms when the Jaguars face Cleveland. They may still have to play in the rain. That will potentially prevent Trevor Lawrence from taking advantage of his wide array of weapons, including (but not limited to) wide receivers Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr.
Then again, Jacksonville wouldn't be the only team affected. Deshaun Watson will start behind center for the Browns. Although he gave the Jags headaches when he was with the Houston Texans, he's far removed from his best days. Heck, since the former Clemson Tiger landed in Berea in 2022, he's made a measly 19 starts. And when he's actually suited up, he hasn't done anything of note.
The silver lining of playing in rainy weather is that the Jaguars could get to showcase their improved running game. Travis Etienne left in free agency, and the backfield tandem of Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez Jr. is expected to replace him. Although Tuten and Rodriguez lack experience, advanced data suggests that both of them have massive upside.
Of course, Rodriguez and Tuten will pound the rock if it rains, but if it doesn't, which would be the best-case scenario, Trevor Lawrence will have a prime opportunity to sling the pigskin and get off to a strong start to 2026.
A weather delay would most definitely be a nuisance, but it otherwise won't have a meaningful impact on the outcome of the game. On the other hand, the Jaguars would love to enjoy a sunny day, ideally, but if it rains, they're more than capable of putting away the Browns.
