After a strong end to 2025, Trevor Lawrence is ready to take his game to the next level. If he does, he'll join the top-5 conversation and propel the Jacksonville Jaguars to a deep playoff run. But despite the optimism surrounding No 16, head coaches and executives across the NFL aren't particularly high on him.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated just posted his annual NFL quarterback survey. The biggest takeaway is that Josh Allen has supplanted Patrick Mahomes as No. 1 signal-caller in the league. On the opposite side of things, Lawrence didn't make the top 15 and was instead a footnote at the bottom of the list.
NFL executives are disrespecting Trevor Lawrence
Albert Breer sent ballots to head coaches and executives around the league. Every quarterback received a number of points. Josh Allen finished first with 427 points, 49 first-place votes, and appeared on 101 ballots out of 104 that Breer received.
All things considered, Allen is deserving of the top spot in the ranking. In spite of his struggles to lead the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs, he's done enough to cement himself as the best quarterback in the NFL heading into 2026.
Aside from Allen, the top 5 of the survey had the usual suspects: Matthew Stafford, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson. Quarterbacks such as Dak Prescott, Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Justin Herbert fill the rest of the top 10.
Trevor Lawrence is currently popping up at Nos. 11 and 12 in most rankings, so his omission in the top 10 isn't necessarily surprising. That said, he didn't even crack the top 15. Instead, all the Clemson Tiger earned was a footnote at the end stating he got only one vote.
To add insult to injury, rival quarterback C.J. Stroud got three votes, while Jaxson Dart and Geno Smith got as many as Lawrence (1).

The Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence will prove just how wrong the NFL is
The truth is that the Jaguars are flying under the radar in 2026. Some of that is self-inflicted, as they've failed to have sustained success dating back to the 2000s. The last two times they made the playoffs (2017, 2022), they failed to qualify the following season.
When you factor in that Trevor Lawrence has been inconsistent throughout his career, it's easy to see why analysts and executives are showing skepticism toward the Jags. Having said that, the snub in the quarterback survey is misguided.
Liam Coen was able to get the most out of Lawrence in their first season together. Lawrence is now entering his second season in the same system, and unlike the past two years, the Knoxville, Tennessee native didn't have to spend the offseason recovering from injuries, so he was able to focus on mastering the offense.
If that wasn't enough, Lawrence has the best supporting cast of his career and won't have to score 30 points every game to have a shot at winning because the Jacksonville defense is pretty good.
While it was shocking to see Trevor Lawrence be left off the quarterback survey, the Jaguars are setting him up for success. He'll be so dominant in 2026 that he'll make it impossible for everyone to ignore him.
