Weather forecast won't be an excuse for Jaguars vs. the Texans in Week 13
The Jacksonville Jaguars will face the Houston Texans in what amounts to be a must-win game in Week 13. Granted, every win counts in the NFL, but the Jags run the risk of being eliminated from playoff contention if Houston comes out on top. Working in their favor is that the weather won't be an issue, so head coach Doug Pederson will have a prime opportunity to open his bag of offensive tricks.
With winter around the corner, temperatures have begun to drop, but because the game will be held in Florida, the game won't be nearly as cold as it were farther north. So what kind of weather can be expected in this divisional bout? Below is a full breakdown.
Weather forecast for the Jaguars vs. the Texans in Week 13:
Per NFLWeather, it will be 63 degrees Fahrenheit, and there will be a zero percent chance of precipitation, meaning that it won't rain Sunday. There will be winds of seven MPH throughout the game, but it won't be strong enough to make an impact.
This is great news for a Jaguars team that will tentatively welcome Trevor Lawrence back in the starting lineup after a two-game absence.
Lawrence has been dealing with a shoulder injury but the time off in the team's Bye gave him a bit of time to rest. He returned to practice Monday and progressively had his number of reps increased. The former Clemson Tiger is listed as questionable in the final Jaguars injury report but head coach Doug Pederson told the local media Friday that he expects him to play.
Given that the injury is on his non-throwing shoulder it will be interesting to see whether it bothers him as the game progresses. To take some pressure off his shoulders, the Jaguars could lean on running backs Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne.
Both Bigsby and Etienne have dealt with injuries in past weeks, but both of them are as healthy as they can be ahead of Week 13.
The Texans will have the edge over the Jaguars
As noted before, the weather won't be an issue, but that goes both ways. The Houston Texans are a five-point favorite and will be looking to build consistency. They've lost four of their last six games and will do anything they can to get back on track after a strong start to the season.
Unlike Lawrence, C.J. Stroud isn't dealing with injuries. However, the second-year quarterback hasn't been nearly as consistent as he was last year, which has led to conversations about a sophomore slump. The fact the Houston offensive line has struggled hasn't helped. The same is true for injuries to the wide receiver corps. But despite their shortcoming, the Texans are currently the better team. After all, the Jacksonville defense is one of the worst in the league.
The bottom line is that things aren't looking great for the Jaguars ahead of Week 13, but at least the weather won't be an issue.
