While two-way star Travis Hunter turned heads with his impressive outing on defense, he wasn't the only player who caught the spotlight for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Day 4 of training camp.

After having a handful of up-and-down days early in camp, Trevor Lawrence is coming off what's arguably been his best practice, connecting deep with budding star Brian Thomas Jr.

John Shipley of Sports Illustrated reports that Thomas bounced back from a handful of rough outings, noting that the sophomore wideout reeled in several big brags.

"Brian Thomas Jr. had a nice day on Sunday, which relfects a bounce-back practice following a frustrating day on Friday," Shipley wrote. "Earlier in the week, Thomas failed to come down with several passes in the end-zone and downfield, but that hardley seemed to be an issue on Sunday."

Shipley continued, "Thomas made multiple big brags on the day, including a nifty touchdown from Trevor Lawrence near the end of practice that brought out an emphatic celebration from the star wide receiver. He also notable piked up a huge gain on a downfield throw from Lawrence into a two-minute drill."

The huge gain Shipley is refering to is one the Jaguars social media team shared of Lawrence finding Thomas in the end zone.

Mia O'Brien of ESPN also acknowledged that No. 16 has been a mixed bag in training back so far but argues that he's looked solid in two-minute situations. Below is the skinny.

"While much will be made about some misfires midway through practice: I thought Trevor Lawrence looked comfortable in 2-minute drills, capping it off with [a] laser TD to Brian Thomas Jr. More important imo: earlier in the drive, he scrambled and had a chance to try and hit BTJ on the runn... but BTJ was well-covered. Lawrence opted to run for a 10-yard gain and get out of bounds," O'Brien wrote in her Day 4 notes.

Thomas took NFL by storm as a rookie, hauling in 92 receptions for 1,282 yards with 10 touchdowns. He's now expected to be even better in Year 2 with Lawrence behind center, and Dyami Brown and Travis Hunter drawing coverage away from him.

Meanwhile, Lawrence is entering a pivotal year in his NFL career. Although he showed that he played like a top-10 quarterback in 2022, he's coming off a pair of somewhat underwhelming seasons. With a new regime in place, the Knoxville, Tennessee native must prove that he can perform at a high level and stay healthy, something he's failed to do.

Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. must keep working on their connection through Jaguars camp

Brian Thomas Jr. has been part of two separate injury scares ahead of the preseason, but he's come out unscathed. So far, he's had no trouble building off his impressive rookie season. Just recently, the former LSU Tiger was voted No. 63 on the list of top 100 NFL players ahead of the 2025 season.

Lawrence, for his part, has had a hectic offseason, having recovered from a shoulder injury he suffered in 2024. It looks like health won't be an issue for him, as he said early in training camp that this is the healthiest he's been in a while. On the other hand, the former Clemson Tiger has been working on his footwork and how to use his eyes better. This is understandable when you take into account that his mechanics were sloppy last year.

It won't be flawless all the time, but Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. are putting in the work to ensure the Jaguars can make noise in 2025. Their touchdown pass on Day 4 is proof of it.
