After a strong end to the 2025 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars want Trevor Lawrence to be more consistent. Based on his performance on Day 3 of training camp, he's right on schedule.
Granted, Lawrence got off to a somewhat quiet start to training camp, but at least he didn't make headlines for the wrong reasons. However you look at it, that's a step in the right direction. Moreover, the former Clemson Tiger reminded everyone on Day 3 why he was a candidate for MVP honors in 2025.

John Shipley of Sports Illustrated reported that Lawrence was the highlight of Day 3, pointing out that the veteran quarterback was as sharp as he can be and had no trouble spreading the ball to his wide array of receivers.
"I thought outside of a throw here or there, Trevor Lawrence was fantastic on Friday," Shipley wrote. "He made several tight-window throws for touchdowns in the red zone that stood out, including a touchdwons pass to Jakobi Meyers (who had his best day of camp) against tight coverage from Jabbar Muhammad. He also threw touchdowns to Bhayshul Tuten, Brian Thomas Jr. (X2), and Parker Washington. "
On the one hand, you expect that kind of performance from a franchise quarterback on a consistent basis. On the other hand, this is noteworthy because Lawrence isn't historically known for having strong practices in training camp.
Throughout the offseason, head coach Liam Coen has talked about being consistent if you want to build sustained success. As impressive as Lawrence has been at different points of his career, consistency isn't one trait you associate with him.
In his defense, the reason Lawrence hasn't been able to build consistency year in and year out is he hasn't always gotten support from the franchise. Whether it was hiring Urban Meyer as the head coach or not giving him a good supporting cast, Jacksonville hasn't set up No. 16 for success. The good news is that the regime that took over in 2025 has quickly changed that.

Liam Coen and general manager James Gladstone have done a good job of building a talented team around Trevor Lawrence. Of course, he also needs to deliver on his end of the bargain, and he's doing just that.
Lawrence is coming off a banner season but knows that he needs to keep honing his skills if he wants to build consistency. Following Day 1 of training camp, he talked about how he's placed an emphasis on the rapport with his skilled-position players.
"I think just the mental side and staying sharp on everything, so I can play fast like I was at the end of the season, and the chemistry, the rapport with me and the skill guys is so important, and just really tapping into that all throughout training camp and making sure that we're on the same page," Lawrence told reporters (18:15 mark). "Because you saw when we started clicking at the end of the last season, you know how efficient and how sharp we were, and some of the plays we were able to make."
Lawrence continued, "So just starting that now and trying to practice like that every day, so we can start the season that way and not take a few weeks to get there."
The Jaguars accomplished big things in 2025. If they get an even better version of Trevor Lawrence, they have reach new heights.
