As the Jacksonville Jaguars get ready for the upcoming season, one of the biggest questions is what role Travis Hunter will ultimately play. From the beginning, Hunter made it clear that his goal was to continue to play both sides of the ball, as he did in college. The Jaguars not only have been on board with this plan, but even went so far as to trade up to No. 2 in the draft to get him.
The question, though, is whether or not Hunter actually will play both offense and defense during the regular season, when all is said and done. After all, it would be a historic move; he would be the first player in the Super Bowl era to do so. Hunter, who plays both wide receiver and cornerback, excels at both positions, but it seems likely that, even if he does play on both sides, he will favor one position more than the other.
And Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has made it clear what his preference is.
"Selfishly, yeah, I definitely want him on offense more."

Lawrence made an appearance on the NFL Network, and said he hopes to work with Hunter on the offense more. "Obviously, he's playing a little bit of both ways," Lawrence said. "He's so talented, man. It's hard to keep him off the field. Selfishly, yeah, I definitely want him on offense more."
He continued on to bolster his argument with the lure of more exciting plays.
"It's almost like, do you want to come catch touchdowns, or do you want to maybe break up a pass or two in the game?" he said, laughing. "That's a decision you've got to make. He'll make plays no matter where he's at, honestly. Of course, as a quarterback, I hope he plays more offense. Wherever he needs to play to make our team better, because he will make us better, is what's going to happen. All for whatever it is."
While there's no denying that Hunter has his doubters, people who say it's not possible to excel in two roles in the modern-day NFL, it's good enough for Jaguars fans to see Hunter thriving so far in training camp - and to know that Trevor Lawrence is standing behind him.
