After a quiet start to his career, Parker Washington has quickly emerged as a playmaker for the Jacksonville Jaguars and a legitimate No. 1 receiver. The fact that the Jags have been winning games dating back to 2025 has certainly helped Washington get the spotlight, with his impressive six-catch, 124-yard performance in the win over the Philadelphia Eagles turning heads across the NFL
And if there were any doubts about just how much of a playmaker Washington has been for Jacksonville, legendary quarterback Tom Brady recently heaped praise on him.
Tom Brady says the Jaguars have a "dawg" in Parker Washington
Tom Brady did a breakdown of the Jags' win over Philly. He complimented Parker Washington, noting that he's gone from an underdog to a legitimate playmaker.
"Parker Washington: This guy's transformed from a fun story into an absolute dawg, D-A-W-G, and everyone knows the sixth round - that's where you look when you need talent, right? Come get it."

For context, Brady himself went in the sixth round of the 2000 draft. He was the sixth quarterback taken that year and turned out to be the best of the bunch. In fact, he's one of the greatest players in NFL history, winning five Super Bowls during a 23-year career that included stints with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Anyway, getting praised by Brady is the biggest seal of approval Washington could get. Not that he was flying under the radar; he isn't. That said, the former Penn State Nittany Lion is quickly starting to be discussed in the same breath as some of the top wideouts in the league.
Five games into the 2026 season, Washington has reeled in 22 catches for 352 yards with four touchdowns, all team highs. And as Brady noted, what stands out about his success is that he was a sixth-round pick in 2022 who had to work his way up the depth chart.
Although Washington flashed potential his first two seasons, he was stuck behind Christian Kirk. But once Jacksonville traded Kirk to the rival Houston Texans in 2025, the Sugar Land, Texas native took off, catching a career-best 58 receptions for 807 yards with five touchdowns. He's currently on pace to finish with even better numbers.

Parker Washington is giving the Jaguars a good problem to have
After Washington's banner season, he was expected to sign a four-year deal worth around $64 million in the offseason. However, the Jaguars couldn't reach an agreement with him despite the fact that they made an effort to extend him.
Near the start of the regular season, the team's brass reportedly offered Washington a contract on par with the three-year, $75 million agreement Michael Wilson got from the Arizona Cardinals. That wasn't enough to get a deal done, and based on No. 11's surge, it's easy to see why.
No. 11 chose to bet on himself, and the decision is paying off. He could finish the season with over 1,000 receiving yards and close to 10 touchdowns. By then, nobody would bat an eye if he wanted $30 million per year. And if Washington were to hit the open market in 2027, you can bet that other clubs would gladly meet his salary demands.
Simply put, Parker Washington has become a bona fide No. 1 receiver, and the Jaguars need to reward him with an extension that reflects that reality.
