When discussing the dilemma the Jacksonville Jaguars are facing at running back, rookie LeQuint Allen isn't often discussed, and understandably so.
A seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Allen is behind Tank Bigsby, Travis Etienne, and fellow rookie Bhayshul Tuten on the depth chart. The former Syracuse Orangeman is in no danger of getting the cut. That said, he won't get a featured role as RB4.
Heck, even if the team traded Etienne, Allen would still be No. 3 on the depth chart and would still get minimal playing time. Nevertheless, that hasn't stopped him from making an impact in training camp.
Coming out of college, LeQuint Allen lacked elite physical skills but proved to be an effective pass catcher out of the backfield and an excellent blocker in pass protection. The offseason program came, and the South Jersey native looked like a veteran because of his demeanor and attention to detail.
Of course, players can look great in the offseason, but clubs cannot really assess them until they put the pads on in training camp. Allen passed the test with flying colors.
Following the first scrimmage, head coach Liam Coen praised Allen, pointing out that he's done everything the team has asked him to thus far."
"I think LeQuint Allen continues to show up in terms of just doing the right thing all the time. He plays hard, he plays fast, he made a great move in space over here."
Trevor Larwence, for his part, believes Allen has done a good job of getting acclimated, noting that he's showcased his blocking chops right off the bat.
"He's done a great job ever since he came in, "Lawrence said via John Shipley of Sports Illustrated. "It's been something I've noticed is his pass protection. He's picked it up really quickly."

The Jaguars have an underrated player in LeQuint Allen
With Travis Etienne earning a role as a pass catcher, it's hard to see LeQuint Allen getting many targets anytime soon. Then again, things could change in a heartbeat.
For the sake of the argument, let's say the Jaguars shop Etienne and either Bayshul Tuten or Tank Bigsby * knocks on wood * get hurt, Allen would suddenly be No. 2 on the depth chart and would earn a significant role.
That sounds like a long shot, but it isn't. Injuries can deplete a position group at any given time. Heck, the Jaguars have recently had to deal with a rash of injuries at corner. This is a long-winded way to say that Allen could get his chance sooner rather than later.
Sure, it surely is frustrating for Allen to have to wait for his chance, but that's the situation he finds himself in. All he can do is keep working like he has. If he does, he will give the Jaguars no option but to thrust him into action.
