Head coach Liam Coen deserves plenty of credit for turning the Jacksonville Jaguars into a playoff contender in his first season at the helm. But as impressive as he was, he probably wouldn't have pulled it off without coordinators Anthony Campanile and Grant Udinski.

Coen's trusted lieutenants managed to get the most out of their side of the ball. Udinski, in particular, helped Trevor Lawrence play like a top-10 quarterback, while wide receiver Parker Washington enjoyed a surge under his tutelage. Similarly, Travis Etienne bounced back and proved that he can be a RB1 in the NFL.

Not surprisingly, Udinski is getting interest from the Cleveland Browns for their head-coach vacancy after dismissing Kevin Stefanski. That said, it's not a given that he'll leave the Jags, but if he does, the Los Angeles Rams may have the perfect replacement.

The Jaguars need to target Nate Scheelhaase if Grant Udinski leaves

Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase is drawing consideration for head-coaching jobs in this hiring cycle. The Pittsburgh Steelers placed a request to interview him after dismissing Mike Tomlin, and it's easy to see why they're targeting one of the hottest assistants in the NFL.

Scheelhaase spent time at Iowa before making the leap to the NFL with Los Angeles in 2024. He started as an offensive assistant and passing game specialist. By 2025, he had become the pass game coordinator.

Of course, Sean McVay is the biggest responsible for the Rams' offensive success, but there's no denying that Scheelhaase played a role. In 2025, wide receiver Puka Nacua had another banner season, and Matthew Stafford is the frontrunner to become the league MVP. If that wasn't enough, Los Angeles ranked first in points scored and total yards last year. Don't you think the Jaguars would love to recreate that kind of production?

The Jaguars already know Nate Scheelhaase from last year's hiring cycle

If Nate Scheelhaase's name sounds familiar, it's because he interviewed for the offensive coordinator job with the Jaguars before it went to Grant Udinksi. As noted before, there's no guarantee that Udinksi will leave, but it would make sense for Jacksonville to make a push for Scheelhaasee if he does.

Leaving aside that Scheelhaase comes from the Sean McVay coaching tree, his stock only went up after one season, and the Jags already have an idea of what he brings to the table. Working against them is that he'll have no shortage of offers, some of them for head-coaching jobs, so Jacksonville could have trouble landing him.

Ultimately, the Jaguars are in great shape ahead of the offseason, and Liam Coen would love to keep both his coordinators to ensure they can build off of their success in 2025. But if it comes to the worst, he'll have no shortage of options to replace them.
