The Jacksonville Jaguars quickly turned things around this season, winning 13 games before being eliminated from the playoffs in a competitive Wild Card loss. While it was a disappointing end to the season, it’s clear the Jags are set up for success moving forward. Unfortunately, that means that they will also have to pay one of the costs of being successful.
That cost is losing key members of the franchise who contributed to the success. From the front office to the coaching staff to the roster, teams always want people from the clubs that are doing things right. The Jaguars are quickly experiencing that, as the Cleveland Browns have requested to interview offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, just one day after Jacksonville’s season ended.

Browns request interview Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski
Grant Udinski just turned 30 years old on Monday, and has only had this one season as an offensive coordinator, who didn’t call plays. Still, he’s considered a rising star in coaching circles, and the Browns, who are casting a wide net with their coaching search, are giving him his first head coaching interview.
Prior to coming to Jacksonville, Udinski spent three years with the Minnesota Vikings, where he served as the assistant to head coach Kevin O’Connell, the assistant quarterbacks coach, and eventually assistant offensive coordinator. During his stint with the Vikes, he had a huge role in Sam Darnold's impressive 2024 campaign.
It didn’t take long for him to make an impact in Jacksonville, with Trevor Lawrence saying he’s never met anyone like Udinski. The veteran quarterback praised the offensive coordinator for his attention to detail in preparation, saying the coach has helped him a lot.
While Liam Coen is rightfully getting a ton of praise for his work with the Jaguars and the offense specifically, Udinski clearly plays an important role, and he could soon be stepping into the same position as Coen.
Regardless of what happens, this is a sign of what’s to come in Jacksonville as long as the team keeps winning. Udinski has already turned himself into a coaching candidate, and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile has as well.
While losing people is tough, fans should hope teams consistently look to the Jaguars for new coaches, players, and executives, because that would mean Jacksonville is consistently doing things right.
