Trevor Lawrence will throw 3 TDs vs. Colts, other bold Week 5 predictions
The Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-4 but cannot afford to lose the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5. For starters, they'll be inducting former head coach Tom Coughlin in the Pride of the Jaguars. Second, they'll be wearing the Prowler throwbacks, and if that wasn't enough, the Jags have beaten Indy at EverBank Stadium for nine straight seasons. It's fair to say that a loss would not be well-received. Fortunately for them, they have a few things going for them.
While injuries have been an issue, Jacksonville could get three starters on defense for the game: Defensive end Josh Hines-Allen, linebacker Devin Lloyd, and defensive back Darnell Savage. Meanwhile, the Colts have already ruled out defensive end Kwity Paye, running back Jonathan Taylor, and cornerback Kenny Moore II.
Currently, the Jaguars are a 2.5-point favorite for the contest, and with their backs against the wall, they have a favorable chance to get their first win of the year in Week 5. With that in mind, here are three bold predictions.
Trevor Lawrence throws 3 TDs, 300 yards for the Jaguars vs. the Colts
Trevor Lawrence has been far from great this season. His completion percentage is even worse than it was in his rookie season and he's only racked up more than 200 passing yards in a game just once. That said, the former Clemson Tiger is hitting his stride. Against the Houston Texans, he completed 54.5 percent of his throws for 169 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Moreover, he's not been plagued by fumbles like he did the year prior.
Lawrence will have arguably a better matchup against a depleted front four and Colts secondary that will be without Kenny Moore and a depleted front four. That should allow him to cross the 300-yard mark and throw for three touchdown passes for the first time in 2024.
Montaric Brown gets an Interception vs. the Colts
Anthony Richardson is questionable for the game with an oblique injury and Joe Flacco is on track to get the starting nod behind center. Regardless, of who ends up playing quarterback for the Colts, cornerback Montaric Brown will come through.
Defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen recently said that Brown's confidence is through the roof and rightly so. Filling in for Tyson Campbell, the former Arkansas standout gave up just three receptions for 41 yards on nine targets in the loss to the Houston Texans.
It won't be shocking if Brown gets to pick off either Flacco or Richardson to at last give the Jaguars' defense its first turnover of the season.
Tank Bigsby will have his first 100-yard game ever for the Jaguars in Week 5
Running back Tank Bigsy is proving that some players need time to put it all together. After an underwhelming rookie year, he's become an important contributor on offense this season. He's logged 172 yards on 21 carries and is averaging 8.2 yards per tote.
While Travis Etienne remains the top option in the Jaguars' backfield, Bigsby has certainly done enough to get his fair share of carries. He'll get more opportunities against the Colts and will make the most out of them, registering his first 100-yard game ever. Along the way, he'll break off a huge run.
