The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for their first of the season when they welcome the Cleveland Browns at TrEverBank Stadium in Week 2. While they have somewhat of a favorable matchup, they won't be at full strength.

The Jags announced the injury report for Week 2. Defensive back Darnell Savage has been ruled out for Week 2 but left tackle Cam Robinson will suit up. This is noteworthy because he was limited in practice with a knee injury but is a full go against the Browns.

On the other hand, defensive tackle Tyler Lacy (toe) and linebacker Caleb Johnson (back) got the questionable tag after being listed as limited in practice Thursday.

Head coach Doug Pederson had already said that defensive back Darnell Savage was unlikely to play, so his status for the game isn't particularly surprising.

Heading into the game, the team's brass also placed cornerback Tyson Campbell on the Injury Reserve. The former Georgia Bulldog suffered a hamstring injury and will now miss at least four games. To fill the void left by his absence, Jacksonville will lean on rookie Jarrian Jones and Montaric Brown.

Pederson met with the local media ahead of the Week 2 matchup and expressed confidence in Brown's ability to fill in for Campbell.

"It's a lot of confidence, can't, can't say enough good things," Pederson said about Brown. "He's gonna get he's done a nice job when he's been in there, whether he's started or came in off of the bench. [He] gets an opportunity this week to play a lot and just continues to grow as a young player."

On the other hand, defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen was pleased with Jones and Brown, noting that he saw technique, fundamentals, and extra effort from both.

Apart from placing Campbell on IR, the Jags added safety Andre Chachere to the practice squad and signed veteran Tre Flowers to the active roster.

Meanwhile, the Browns have already ruled out left tackle Jadrick Wills Jr. and tight end David Njakou for the game. They also listed right tackle Jack Conklin as questionable while he recovers from a season-ending injury he suffered in 2023.

The Jaguars aren't at full strength but have enough pieces to beat the Browns

The Jaguars would have a better chance of beating Cleveland if Tyson Campbell were available in Week 2. That said, they have a pair of capable replacements for him in Jarrian Jones and Brown. Regardless of who gets the start, the Jacksonville secondary has enough pieces to slow down a struggling Deshaun Watson.

The fact that the Browns may be without both of their starting offensive tackles bodes well for the Jaguars' pass rush. Although Josh Hines-Allen's Week 1 production didn't pop off the stat sheet, Ryan Nielsen was thrilled about his impact and ability to disrupt the passing game.

Even without Tyson Campbell and Darnell Savage, the Jaguars have enough talent on defense to give Watson and the Browns fits in Week 2. It will be up to them to take advantage of the matchup.
