What seemed like “just another game” when the NFL schedule was released in May has turned into the Jacksonville Jaguars’ most important game to date. After the embarrassing 37-17 loss to the Texans in week 3, the Jaguars look to avoid getting swept by the Texans while also taking a two-game lead in the AFC South.

The Jaguars got back to winning form last week with their most complete performance against the Titans. Meanwhile, the Texans look to extend their three-game winning streak, with the three wins by a combined ten points.

Jaguars Key Offensive Matchup vs. the Texans in Week 12

The Jaguars offense finally clicked last week, with Trevor Lawrence and Calvin Ridley combining for two touchdowns and multiple other deep passes. With linebackers Denzel Perryman suspended and Henry To’oTo’o still yet to clear concussion protocol, this could leave the middle of the field vulnerable for wide receiver Christian Kirk and tight end Evan Engram to exploit.

The Texans are nearly league-average in rush defense. Defensive Tackle Sheldon Rankins has shined as of late with four sacks and three run stuffs in his last four games. This will be another test for this the Jaguars offensive line.

Jaguars Defensive Matchup vs. the Texans in Week 12

Following the week 3 game, CJ Stroud had zero interceptions, a streak that continued until week 6. In the last two games, Stroud has thrown four interceptions. However, he has also thrown for 300+ yards and at least one touchdown in the last three games.

The Texans have struggled to run the ball and, against this Jaguars' rushing defense, they will not find it easy again on Sunday. If Andre Cisco and Rayshawn Jenkins can control the threats of wide receivers Tank Dell and Nico Collins deep and linebacker Devin Lloyd has another good game in pass coverage, Stroud will be forced to be patient while the Jaguars wait to pounce on a mistake.

Keep an eye out for the statistical recap next week and Go Jags!
