The Jacksonville Jaguars went 6-2 in the first half of the season. They're 1-1 since their BYE and find themselves in first place in the AFC South. However, things are going to get complicated in the upcoming weeks. While they'll face teams like the Cincinnati Bengals, who lost Joe Burrow for the season, and the weakened Tennessee Titans, the Jags also face a handful of difficult opponents.

While going undefeated the rest of the way isn't reasonable, Jacksonville needs to rack up as many wins as possible. The Houston Texans are right behind them and are a legitimate threat to them in the divison race. Also, winning most of their games left will ensure the Jaguars get the highest possible playoff seed. With that in mind, here are the three most formidable opponents remaining on their schedule:

No. 3 toughest game remaining on the Jaguars schedule: Houston Texans, Week 12

That's right, one of the toughest opponent left on the Jags' schedule resides in their own division. While the Texans entered the season with lots of upside, you will be hard-pressed to find someone who legitimately thought they would be playoff-bound in 2023. Then again, you should always expect the unexpected in the NFL, and Houston has most definitely exceeded expectations this season.

The Texans already beat Jacksonville this season and losing to them in Week 12 would send them to second place in the division. It wouldn't be the end of the world but the last thing the Jags want is to play catch-up for the remainder of the season.

Led by rookie sensation C.J. Stroud, Houston has more than enough talent on both sides of the rest to go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the AFC South. What makes their success more impressive is that their offense is thriving despite the fact that their offensive line is full of holes.

On the other hand, their defensive front is one not to mess with. Players such as Johnathan Greenard, Sheldon Rankings, and first-year pro Will Anderson Jr. have done a good job of bringing the heat. The Jags' O-Line will need to contain them if they want to avoid a sweep this season.
