The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected Mizzou offensive tackle Javon Foster with pick No. 114, the first of two picks they in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

This is the second pick the Jags have made on offense this year. Brian Thomas Jr. in the first round was the first one. Foster joins a group that includes Cam Robinson, Walker Little, and Anton Harrison. The former LSU Tiger mostly lined up at left tackle in college, but there's a chance the coaching staff will ask him to play both sides during his development.

Foster posted Pro Football Focus overall grades of 80.0 or higher in each of the last three years. While he gave up four sacks in 2022, he only allowed one on 449 pass block snaps last season.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic projected Foster to be a fourth or fifth-round pick. On the other hand, Chad Reuter of NFL Media mocked him to the Jags in the third round early in the offseason. Here's the newest Jaguar talking to the media.

What should the Jaguars expect from Javon Foster in 2024?

Cam Robinson and Anton Harrison are currently the starters on the edges. Walker Little is the swing tackle. Unless either Robinson or Little is traded in the offseason, Foster will begin training camp (and possibly) the regular season at the bottom of the depth chart.

Foster is a fourth-round, so he shouldn't be expected to contribute right out of the bat. In fact, he'll have a chance to hone his skills behind the Jaguars' group of offensive tackles. This is to say, he'll have a backup role as a rookie. Don't be surprised if he's a healthy scratch in a handful of games.

What grade should the Jaguars get for drafting Javon Foster?

Cam Robinson and Walker Little are set to become free agents in 2025, so it's a good idea to add depth at the position. Javon Foster won't probably replace either one but will provide depth early in his career.

Grade: B
