The Kansas City Chiefs have won two straight Super Bowls and are looking for the third in 2024. However, they haven't been nearly as successful when looking to secure funding for renovations to Arrowhead Stadium. This should make the Jacksonville Jaguars look even better after striking a deal with the City of Jacksonville to spend $1.4 billion in renovations for EverBank Stadium.

The Chiefs want to keep playing in Arrowhead but voters in Jackson County, Missouri, rejected a proposal earlier this year that would've helped fund renovations in May. This prompted the state of Kansas to pass legislation that would help them lure the Chiefs away.

Negotiations remain fluid, and there's a chance the Chiefs will remain in Missouri. As a matter of fact, that appears to be owner Clark Hunt's preference. However, he believes they must approach the process with an open mind. The Jags, on the other hand, had no trouble getting the renovations deal passed.

The Jags presented the proposal for renovations in 2023. One year later, they struck a deal with the City of Jacksonville to secure funding for what they dubbed "The Stadium of the Future." However, it had to be put to vote before it was officially approved. It passed 14-1 with two abstentions. Next, NFL owners will vote to approve the deal in their next meeting in October.

It's also worth noting that the Carolina Panthers were seeking funding for renovations to Bank of America Stadium. And like the Jaguars, they were able to pull it off, with the City of Charlotte approving the proposal.

Jaguars fans should be hyped up about EverBank Stadium getting a makeover

Jacksonville residents were seemingly open to the idea of financing renovations to EverBank Stadium. Meanwhile, Missouri wasn't seemingly thrilled about the idea of helping secure funding for Arrowhead Stadium despite the fact that owner Clark Hunt and his family would commit $300 million to the project.

In fairness, both the Chiefs and the Jaguars faced different hurdles, but fans of the latter should be thrilled that they'll be getting upgrades at the Bank. One of the biggest complaints for years is that it lacked ideal shade, which is less than great during hot days. Among the proposed changes, a roof that can decrease temperature up to 14 degrees will be built.

Moreover, Jaguars owner Shad Khan will make additional investments in the city of Jacksonville on top of the $645 million he'll commit to renovations.

In the end, Jaguars fans should be pleased that this was a relatively straightforward process. The City of Jacksonville could've drawn a line on the sand and complicated negotiations. Instead, they worked with the Jaguars to get a deal done. Chiefs fans are surely hoping their team also figures out a solution for their stadium solution.
