The Jacksonville Jaguars are having a busy offseason. Besides signing key players such as Josh Allen and Trevor Lawrence, they reached an agreement to spend $1.4 billion in renovations to EverBank Stadium. Owner Shad Khan met with the local media after the city council passed the proposal to make it clear that he won't tolerate another collapse like 2023.

Khan didn't single out anyone for the team's underwhelming end to the season. He instead chose to put the blame on everyone, "You win as an organization, you fail as an organization. Okay, so I mean. I look at it as an organizational failure, via John Shipley of Sports Illustrated. The Jaguars owner goes on to say that injuries are not an excuse.

""I mean obviously Trevor, we had some of those injuries, but I think it's an organizational failure that happened. And it's, when we talk to the players, I mean Trevor, Josh, Allen, all of these players I talked to, it's like, how could this happen? What happened?""

In the end, Kahn believes that the collapse should be a reason for self-reflaction, noting that they cannot let it happen again, "but for me it's really a cause of self-reflection and then something good come out it because we just can't have that this year.

Although the Jaguars finished 9-7, 2023 was still considered a disappointment because they failed to make the playoffs. The fact that Jacksonville went 8-3 before losing five of their last six games makes it more frustrating. After all, they had several chances to lock up a playoff spot but couldn't. They could've even qualified by beating the Tennessee Titans in the finale, but it proved to be too much for them.

Now, the Jags are looking to bounce back and have taken several steps to ensure they can take back the AFC South in 2024. Signing key players such as Lawrence and Allen was crucial. The team's brass also made upgrades to the roster and made changes to the coaching staff. It's fair to say that they're in a position to make the playoffs next season, and anything less will be a failure.

Shad Khan makes it clear he expects big things from the Jaguars in 2024

The Jaguars have had two straight winning seasons. But back in the 2010s, they had only one and racked up more than six wins just once. That was in 2017, when they reached the AFC Championship game. In the three years prior to drafting Trevor Lawrence, they won a combined 12 games. This makes their recent success look much better. However, Shad Khan doesn't want Jacksonville to get content.

Khan believes that everything is in place for the team to achieve big things. He's right. They have a franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and a Super Bowl-winning coach in Doug Pederson. Moreover, he has spared no expense to ensure his players are in a position to succeed. Last year, they inaugurated Miller Electric Center, a state-of-the-art facility for players to train.

Simply put, Shad Khan has done his part. He now wants to see a return on his investment, and can you blame him? The pieces are there, it's up to them to show they're not the same ol' Jaguars.
