The Jacksonville Jaguars are getting ready for what promises to be a fantastic season. After the way things went in 2022, they are expecting to be even better in 2023.
Part of that is their quarterback. Trevor Lawrence gives them an advantage in most games that they play and he is only going to get better as the weeks/years go on.
There are always going to be some good quarterbacks on the other side of the ball as well. The first opponent of the season, the Indianapolis Colts, are hoping that they found one of those.
They decided that Anthony Richardson is going to be the starting quarterback for them in week one against the Jaguars. Obviously, that is a big decision that they made and it was announced on Tuesday.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be facing Anthony Richardson.
Of course, Richardson was selected by the Colts in the first round (fourth overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft. That means he is going to start in his very first eligible game as a rookie quarterback. That is a big honor for him.
Richardson made a name for himself in the SEC as the quarterback of Florida. There are going to be a lot of growing pains for him but there is no doubt that he is loaded with arm talent that might be able to develop in the NFL.
The Colts go into most seasons believing they can compete in the AFC South Division. Well, they haven't won it in a while as things have fallen off for them since Andrew Luck retired early.
Now, with Richardson, they are hoping to be a competitive team in the division again. That quest will begin in week one against the Jaguars who believe they are the best team in the division.
It should be a very good matchup as the rookie looks to get off on a good foot. The Jaguars will surely start planning on how they are going to contain him in his first career NFL start. This is going to be very exciting.
