The Indianapolis Colts found a franchise QB in Anthony Richardson in Round 1

The Indianapolis Colts, with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, selected Florida Gator Anthony Richardson. The Colts were projected to take a quarterback, but most analysts had them taking Will Levis. Not this one; I had the Colts taking Richardson in my mock draft.

I knew it when Richardson started turning heads in Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine. His athleticism is off the charts and jaw-dropping. He is Cam Newton with Vick speed. Watch him blow out the 40-yard dash in this video from the combine.

Richardson has some serious threats as a mobile quarterback, pairing him with Jonathan Taylor is problematic. He ran for touchdowns of 45, 60, 73, 80, and 81 yards in Florida over the past two seasons. Look at this highlight, this kind of thing will be an issue when facing the Colts from now on.

Fortunately for Jaguars fans, Richardson has a gigantic bust written all over him. He does not have a lot of experience under center. He only started 13 games for the Gators. His passer rating in college is an exploitable 131.0, with a 53 percent completion rate and a 2:1 touchdown to interception ratio.

He is nothing Tyson Campbell and the Jaguars’ backfield can't handle. The Jaguars will need to stack the box and let him throw picks. In summary, the Colts improve with Anthony Richardson. However, he is not a worthy adversary and will not unthrone the kings of the AFC South, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
