You have probably heard that the 17-game schedule release is the Super Bowl of every team's social media team and the Jacksonville Jaguars didn't disappoint in the 2023 edition. Maybe you heard former running back Arian Foster say in February that the NFL is scripted and that's the angle the Jags went with for this year's announcement.

The Jaguars' social media shows Ghost actor Asher Grodman coaching players for the 2023 script, "do you know what they called an actor on Shakespeare's day? Players", Grodman asks a confused Foyesade Oluokun.

Grodman even got owner Shad Khan on the video, "Everyone wants a Lombardi but Emmy, that's the true price", Khan says. "It's heavier". Although the whole gag is about the script for the year, Grodman didn't miss the chance to take a not-so-subtle jab at Urban Meyer.

"Last year was my first year with the team. The previous guy went for more of a comedy angle but the joke didn't fly with the team, literally", Grodman said.

Back during the Urban Meyer era, the Jaguars lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football. But instead of flying back to Jacksonville with the team, like every other coach would, Meyer decided to stay behind to "spend time with his grandkids".

However, Meyer didn't really tell everyone his true intentions, which were to go clubbing and have fun with women considerably younger than him. Meyer's tenure had already gotten to a rocky start and the bar incident, which was caught on video and went viral on social media, turned him into a laughingstock in the league.

It didn't help matters that Meyer lied about the incident and it ended up being one of the many reasons he was kicked to the curb less than 12 months after being hired. And because the internet never forgets, the Los Angeles Chargers made a reference to the now infamous video in last year's schedule release. To keep the tradition alive, the Jags mentioned the joke in their 2023 announcement. Here's the clip in case you haven't seen it.

The Jaguars will have a chance to scrub a bad memory vs. the Bengals on MNF

You could argue that the Jags' Week 4 loss to Cincy was one of their lowest point of the 2021 season but they seemingly hit rock bottom on a weekly basis under Meyer. The silver lining is that Jacksonville will have the chance to create new memories when they face off against the Bengals on Monday Night Football in 2023.

The Jaguars are a much better team now and led by Trevor Lawrence, they have a realistic shot at beating their AFC foes. In fact, winning this game would be huge as it could end up being a factor in playoff seeding late in the season. The fact that the bout will be at TIAA Bank Field could give the Jags a slight edge.

Although the Jaguars' 2022 season finished on a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, they've come along way since 2021, when Urban Meyer was at the helm. The team's social team and Asher Grodman made sure to remain Meyer in the schedule release how much they've improved since he's gone.
