No. 1 Jacksonville Jaguars 2023 opponent that could trade for Lamar Jackson: Indianapolis Colts

The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently the team to beat in the AFC South but their division foes are doing the best they can to try to catch up to them in 2023. The Houston Texans have had a productive offseason, making several splash signings in free agency, while the Tennessee Titans have retooled their roster and cleaned cap room.

On the other hand, the Indianapolis Colts have been relatively quiet even though they have several roster holes to fill, including a glaring one at quarterback. They've made several attempts to find a long-term answer at the position several times since Andrew Luck retired in 2019 but they failed almost every time.

Indy will have a shot at taking one of the top quarterback prospects in this year's draft but if they want to go with a proven commodity, they should then consider pulling the trigger on a trade for Lamar Jackson. Colts general manager Chris Ballard spoke to the media at the 2023 NFL owners meeting and said that when a player as talented as Jackson is available, the team should do due diligence.

Head coach Shane Steichen has previously worked with quarterbacks such as Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts and even the ex Jaguar Gardner Minshew. He could certainly make it work with a rookie signal-caller but if the Colts and owner Jim Irsay can't wait, they should then target Jackson, could immediately help them challenge Jacksonville for the AFC South campionship.
