The Jacksonville Jaguars have taken a conservative approach in free agency and have limited themselves to make depth signings. This was expected due to the dearth of cap space they had at their disposal. Then again, the Jags didn't have to make many splash acquisitions after loading up on talent last year.

On the other hand, other AFC South teams have been quite active in free agency in an effort to gain ground and catch up with Jacksonville. Despite the fact that the Jaguars were the only team in the division to finish the 2022 season with a winning record, they can't afford to take their rivals lightly. So where do they stand after the first wave of free agency? Here's a ranking of the division.

4. AFC South rankings post 2023 NFL Free Agency: Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts have failed to find a replacement for Andrew Luck, who retired in 2019, even though they've tried several times. However, quarterback isn't they only need Indy has to address this offseason. They need to revamp their offensive line, add a No. 1 receiver and bolster their secondary.

So far, the Colts have only added depth to a handful of position groups. Their signing of kicker Matt Gay might be their most meaningful acquisition so far. They also locked up former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew, who followed head coach Shane Steichen from Philadelphia, on a modest one-year deal.

While there's a chance Minshew will get a shot to compete for the starting job, Indianapolis will probably draft a quarterback, so it's not a given that he'll be under center in Week 1. The Colts also added another former Jaguar, defensive tackle Taven Bryan, who played for the Cleveland Browns last year.

The Colts might wait until the draft to get better but they have a steep hill to climb to move up in the division in 2023.
