Former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Arden Key isn't having a good summer. Back in July, it was announced that he earned a six-game suspension to start the 2024 season for violations of the league's Performance-Enhancing Substance policy. More recently, he went viral for a series of back-to-back mistakes at Tennessee Titans training camp.

A video of Key jumping offsides is making the rounds of social media. It wouldn't be a big deal if it was just a routine offsides. After all, even the best players are bound to make mistakes every now and then. What stands out is that the former LSU Tiger doesn't do it just once or twice. It's not even three but four times, and it happened to be on a consecutive basis. Here's the clip.

How can you make so many consecutive mistakes? You can even see linebacker Rashad Weaver (No. 99) throwing his hands in the air wondering what's going on. The whole thing is mesmerizing and not for a good reason. This would be understandable if Key were a rookie finding his way in the NFL. He's not, he's a grizzled veteran who cannot seemingly catch a break this summer.

Without Key in the fold, his teammates will be tasked with picking up the slack. The fact that Denico Autry, who logged 11.5 sacks in 2023, bolted for the rival Houston Texans didn't help matters. The silver lining is that the Titans have rookie T'Vondre Sweat, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, and edge rusher Harold Landy III in the fold.

Then again, having to pick up the slack left by Key's suspension and Autry's departure could prove to be overwhelming for the trio.

A third-round pick by the Las Vegas (then-Oakland) Raiders in 2019, Key had three unremarkable seasons to start his career, totaling a measly three sacks. By 2021, they had seen enough of him and waived. The San Francisco 49ers swooped in and claimed him.

This might've been the best thing that could've happened to Key, as he went on to enjoy a career revival in the Bay Area. He registered a personal-best 6.5 sacks in 2021 and signed with the Jaguars the following year.

Although he only logged 4.5 sacks, Key played a pivotal role in the Jacksonville defense. His versatility to line up at different points of the line of scrimmage allowed the coaching staff to deploy him in different ways, which in turn gave his teammates more favorable matchups.

Following another productive season, Key wanted to return to Jacksonville but felt disrespected by the offer the team's brass made him. That's why he wasted no time joining Tennessee last year.

Arden Key's suspension is one of many issues the Titans are dealing with

More often than not, one player doesn't make or break a team. This isn't to say that the Tennessee Titans would have no trouble overcoming Arden Key's suspension under ideal circumstances. The issue is that their defense is already dealing with several injuries.

Safety Jamal Adams, and cornerbacks L'Jarius Sneed, Chidobe Awuzie, and Anthony Kendall have sat out practice ahead of the preseason. Adam has dealt with several ailments the past few years, so him missing time isn't particularly surprising. That said, Tennesse should be a bit fidgety about their cornerback room's availability or lack thereof. Things aren't much better on the offensive side of the ball.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss several weeks with a knee issue he suffered in training camp. He may be ready for the opener, but his health will be a topic of discussion ahead of the regular season.

With head coach Brian Callahan at the helm, the Titans looking to leave the cellar of the AFC South. Not having some of their best players around will complicate things. Then again, the Jacksonville Jaguars won't be shedding tears for their division foe any time soon.
