Cam Robinson or Walker Little? The Jaguars will have options at left tackle in 2025
Quality left tackles are hard to find but the Jacksonville Jaguars have a pair of capable ones in Cam Robinson and Walker Little. Add the fact that they used a fourth-round pick in this year's draft on Javon Foster, and they have enviable depth at the position. Having said that, things will be considerably different for the Jags in 2025.
Robinson and Little are slated to hit the open market next year, and both of them popped up in NFL Media's article of the top 50 free agents in 2025. Gregg Rosenthal, the writer of the list, points out that the former has been a long-time mainstay of the Jaguars' offensive line while the latter has shown to make you think that he's a starting caliber left tackle. He's right.
A second-round pick in 2017, Robinson has never made the Pro Bowl but has been as dependable as they come. Little, for his part, hasn't been able to seize a featured role for Jacksonville but he has fared well when called upon. Right now, the duo is competing for the starting job. The loser could be the swing tackle next season or be placed on the trade block. Both paths are reasonable.
The Jaguars dealt with injuries last year at left tackle. At one point, offensive guard Ezra Cleveland had to line up on the edge. The team's brass may want to have as many options as possible to avoid a repeat of 2023. On the other hand, while less likely, trading Robinson or Little to a team in need at the position would make sense if the compensation is right.
Then again, Jacksonville may only feel comfortable trading Robinson or Little if Javon Foster shows he can hold his ground in the preseason.
Cam Robinson and Walker Little among the myriad options for the Jaguars in 2025
For the sake of argument, let's say the Jacksonville Jaguars keep both Cam Robinson and Walker Little in 2024. As of this writing, this looks like the most realistic path. What should they do next year? They could let both of them leave in free agency and start over. They could bring one of them back and look for a potential upgrade in the draft.
Then again, the Jags also need to bolster their interior offensive line, so they might benefit from having continuity at left tackle. Another possibility would be to have Anton Harrison switch sides. He's thriving on the right side but he mostly played left tackle at Oklahoma. Then again, if he's doing well, sliding him back to his old position may not be the best course of action.
The one thing that the Jaguars have going in their favor is that they have options. It will be up to them to choose the best one but the one thing they must do is ensure Trevor Lawrence's blindside is protected for years to come. And if Cam Robinson or Walker Little (or both) thrive in 2024, the front office will have a good problem at hand.
