The Jacksonville Jaguars made it more difficult than it should've been but they ultimately beat the Indianapolis Colts 37-34 to get their first win of the season. While Trevor Lawrence played a massive role in the victory, it was rookie Cam Little who ultimately sealed the deal with a last-minute field goal. When you take into account that it was the quarterback's 25th birthday, it's fair to say that he couldn't have gotten a better present.

The Jaguars reached the end zone to make it 34-27 with less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter. However, Indianapolis wasn't just done, so they answered with a touchdown strike of their own to tie the game just a few moments later.

With the game on the line, Jacksonville drove to the Colts' 31-yard line. There, Little took over and nailed the 41-yard field goal. It was his third attempt of the day and all of them were good. This season, the former Arkansas Razorback has gone 9-of-10 with his only miss coming in the loss to the Cleveland Browns. Here it is, in case you want to watch it again.

Of course, Lawrence also contributed to the win with some of his magic. Besides throwing an ugly pick into triple coverage, the former Clemson Tiger had his best game of the season, going 28-of-34 for 371 yards with two touchdowns.

Similarly, Tank Bigsby came through, posting his first 100-yard game of the season while averaging 7.8 yards per tote and playing in a way reminiscent of legendary running back Fred Taylor.

Rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. also showed out, hauling in five receptions for 122 yards with one touchdown while giving the offense a vertical element that had sorely missed for nearly a decade.

Drafting Cam Little already paying off dividends for the Jacksonville Jaguars

It's not often that you expect a sixth-round pick to make an impact right off the bat, but Cam Little is no ordinary selection. After breaking the school record for career completion rate at Arkansas, the Moore, Oklahoma native entered the draft as one of the best prospects at the position.

Surprisingly, Little was the third kicker selected, behind Joshua Karty and Will Reichard but he got the nod in Chad Reuter's All-Rookie team.

Looking back, the Jaguars are surely glad Little was available at No. 212, as he's gone on to put an end to the revolving door they had at the position since Josh Lambo started to struggle in 2021.

It's also worth noting that Little made his two attempts from over 50 yards out, which is partly why Jacksonville drafted him. Back in college, he went 7-of-11 in attempts of 50+ yards, and his success has carried over into the pros.

Ultimately, it was a team win, one the Jaguars couldn't put together in previous games but it wouldn't have been possible without Cam Little, who provided the cherry on the top and a cool present for party-boy Trevor Lawrence.
